Augustinian Cannon. This is a very impressive and magnificent carving of an Augustinian Cannon. The carving is in a little of a bad state of repair but still with many of the fine details surviving. The main damage is that one hand is missing from the wrist and the other arm is missing from the elbow, apart from this damage the carving is in very good condition. The most interesting appeal of this carving is that it has been lost for centuries and only recently been rediscovered after renovation work at Carlisle Cathedral. This carving now resides behind a glass case and on proud display at Carlisle Cathedral. Although there is no accurate and exact date to when it was carved it can definitely be dated to the late 15th Century. Comes with mounting ring so that can be wall mounted and has a product label. Size (H) 51cm x (w) 17cm. |
